Having A Good Server Helps Profits

As I said earlier, selling direct ads is a great way to increase revenue throughout your website. Even though it may be, there will come many disadvantages to it. One of these disadvantages would include having server loss. This is a major factor that can hurt you in terms of revenue.

Unlike Adsense, where you don’t get paid when you don’t have their code up or when your site’s server goes down for long periods of time, selling direct ads can affect you when your site’s server goes down and soon after when your recovering all the lost. An example would be when your server going down for five days and then after it coming back to it’s feet you have to give all your private advertisers five days of additional ad placements. After this, you will have to work on increasing traffic because you’ve lost a few returning visitors.

Tyler Cruz is a well-known blogger and has went on a vacation so who knows when he’ll be back. Ever since he left, his blog has been down so I’m assuming that he doesn’t have a laptop with him to check up on these kinds of stuff. For all of you who knows him already, he makes his living off of online revenue; therefore, this can affect him harshly.

Making sure you have the best server will assure you to not lose any profits at all. An ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure. Take the little steps now to help you out in the future so that you never lose anything. Also, plan to have backup at least somewhere so that you can make money elsewhere at the same time.

Observe Ad Spots You’ve Purchased

After you’ve come a long way of working your website to it’s best ability that your suited with, we tend to head towards the private ads avenue. It’s a great time to make 100% profit of all ad sales and in return, it becomes a great income stream for you. In every business field, there’s always competition.

In this case, we will be discussing about the blogging business. To promote your blog nowadays, I’ve found that the reviews are quite popular and is a great way to advertise your blog. You can generate a lot of visitors and at the same time, gain a huge popularity simply by purchasing paid reviews from well known bloggers. Michael over at Retire At 21 has made a great observation on ten of the blogs he’s purchased paid reviews from and here’s a chart of his results.

If you aren’t familiar with his blog/website yet, then I recommend you check it out today as he provides many useful content that all of you can benefit from. Charting information like this can really help you out when determining where you should purchase more reviews next time and providing this publicly is a definite plus. You can definitely know in which blogs you can invest your money into.

Depending on how you are charting the results or what you are looking for in a campaign, my best bet was that the top 3 blogs is where he invested his money in and where I would invest my money in the future. The only thing that I have no clue about is the quality of the traffic. You can receive a lot of visitors from the other blogs but if they don’t view much pages or don’t stay for a while, then what’s the point? Without no doubt, if he had included the results of how many subscribers he had received from getting a review from each blog then I definitely have them up on my list. Subscribers can help you severely in almost all aspects on your blog.

The next time you purchase an ad review, make sure you consider the quality of the traffic you will be receiving if you already have prior information about that site.

Save A Little Money Using GoDaddy Coupons

The one thing that almost every webmaster do is purchase domain names but the difference between each purchase is the registrar. I personally like the GoDaddy service for domain names but for others, GoDaddy is not what they are looking for. If you haven’t already, try them out on your next purchase. Something that I’ve encountered from GoDaddy is that you can get quite a bargain on domain name purchases and renewals. They love sending you those extra coupons through email for a discount on their already cheap domain names. They don’t give you all the good ones so I’ve bundled up a few to post here.

  • OYH3 - All .COMs for $6.95 per domain name.
  • CJCDEAL35 - $5 off your next purchase of $30 or more.
  • CJCDEAL36 - $10 off your next purchase of $50 or more.
  • CJCDEAL37 - $20 off your next purchase of $100 or more.
  • CJCDEAL38 - 15% off your next purchase of $50 or more.
  • HASH3 - All .COMs for $6.95 per domain name.

These coupons come quite in handy when I purchase domain names. It doesn’t take a huge percentage off of the domain names but it does take a few dollars. Let’s take .COMs for example, I can grab any .COM domain name for $7.15 a year and still have a great service from my registrar! That’s pretty cheap compared to many other registrars but every company has their benefits and a few extra dollars can also be used for another purchase of a domain name or be kept saved.

Making More From Direct Ads

Selling direct ads to your visitors is a great way to increase your revenue by simply removing the middle man. The only disadvantage between the middle man is that the middle man usually supplies you with your advertisers. You wouldn’t have to go around searching for them. Therefore, I would only suggest you to begin selling direct ads to your visitors when you have a decent audience that would be willing to purchase your ad spots. Listed below are a few ways that you can increase revenue coming from direct ads.

  1. Build Up Traffic!
I’ve seen many web publishers do this already and it won’t work. You must have the traffic in order to pick up the advertisers. You can’t get the advertisers and then get the visitors later on. It doesn’t work like that way.
  2. Set Up Ad Spot Locations.
Do not fill up your site with millions of ad spots for private advertisers. There’s disadvantages to doing this which would include, having a lot of ad spots not filled. Advertisers do not want to see many unfilled ad locations as it would leave them to believing that there aren’t many interest in your ad spots. You do not want potential advertisers thinking that. Start out with just a couple of locations and as you fill them up, add one or two at a time until you have a decent amount on your site.
  3. Set Up Advertising Page.
Set up a page where you list all the ad spots you currently provide, quite a bit of information regarding your websites statistics and the pricing structure. If you’re dealing with Paypal as a payment method, add the Paypal button up so that they can instantly pay you for that location.
  4. Use an Ad Manager.
There are plenty of ad managers out there for use and I believe Google has recently released one but it’s still in Beta. Try using the one many people are quite familiar with which is OpenX. It can do everything for you automatically without the hassle of having to manage which ads go where and etc.
  5. Advertise Your Ad Spots on Forums!
Last but not least, advertise your advertising page on webmaster forums. High populated webmaster forums can bring you many advertisers and in return also returning advertisers. Make sure you give them what they want and you will definitely notice the impact of webmaster forums.

After all, your bringing in more revenue by doing these few tips. Include discounts for long term purchases and allow more than one payment client. Not everyone use the same payment source so it would be beneficial to do so. Feature your advertisers from time to time so that they feel that they’ve got a good return for their money spent. It’s all about business!
